Royal British Legion Sauerland Branch

The Sauerland Branch of the Royal British Legion was formed in November 1997 by Dick Widnes and our first meetings were held in “Weingarten“ in Iserlohn. In 1998 the Branch moved to Deilinghofen and at our first AGM Joan Hatton was voted in as Chairman. Since then we have had to change venues several times ending. In 2003 we were officially registered as an e.V (registered club) in the local courts and in 2010 we registered our “Gemeinnützigkeit” (charitable status) at the local tax office. We have 7 trained caseworkers who work very hard to help those less fortunate and in need. Each year we hold a BBQ to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal and provide information stands at the  Hamm Highland Games and different town festivals in our area whenever we can manage it. Our Standard takes part in as many parades as possible and whenever possible we also take part in  the Wreath Laying Ceremony in November at the Memorial for the Fallen alongside the Reservistenkameradenschaft Iserlohn who have supported us on many occasions and we them in return.
